In addition to the cost of training, you must be able to cover the costs of daily life (housing, internet and electricity bills, food, etc.), which are estimated by the Quebec government to be about $1,100 per month.
In addition, there is the monthly cost of the transportation card.
It’s easy to find housing in Montreal. Students have several options, ranging from shared rooms to student residences to independent apartments.
For practical reasons, especially in winter, we advise living no more than a 10-minute walk to a metro station.
The total price of housing can therefore vary from C$450 to C$900 per month depending on several options: location, whether the accommodation is unfurnished, partly furnished or fully furnished, if utilities and internet are included…
To study in Quebec, you must obtain a CAQ (Certificat d’Acceptation du Québec) as well as a study permit coupled with a work permit (“Co-op or Intern Work Permit”). Other administrative requirements (residence permit, medical examination, etc…) may have to be met, depending on your file.
ISART Digital provides support to advise students in these steps. Students who wish to remain in Quebec after their studies may obtain a Post-Graduation Work Permit, subject to meeting the requirements.
Quebec has reciprocal agreements for health care with several countries. To access the list of countries concerned and find out the procedures to procure health care, simply visit the RAMQ (Régie d’Assurance Maladie du Québec) website.
The Quebec Ministry of Immigration requires all foreign students to have health insurance that is equivalent to the coverage offered by the RAMQ. It is therefore mandatory to acquire, before departure, hospitalization and repatriation insurance, in case of serious illness or death.
In addition to the internships and work experience required for the approval of certain degree programs, students may be eligible for an off-campus work permit.
This is often issued at the same time as the Study Permit and allows you to work outside the framework of your studies, up to 20 hours per week. Beforehand, you must obtain an NAS (Social Insurance Number) from Service Canada in order to start a job or internship.
